New LBP fact sheets show regional economic impact of Medicaid expansion

Expanding Louisiana’s Medicaid program to cover low-income uninsured adults would not only improve public health, it also would help economies in every region of the state as new federal health care dollars became available.

Medicaid expansion is expected to bring in more than $16 billion over 10 years that would support 15,600 new Louisiana jobs.

The governor's plan will mainly benefit corporations and the wealthy, while working and middle-class families will pay more for services and products we use every day such as diapers, garbage collection, haircuts and home repairs. Louisiana’s tax system certainly needs to be improved, but this is the wrong way to do it.
