BATON ROUGE – Louisiana Budget Project Director Jan Moller issued the following statement on the end of the 2016 Regular Session:
“The current version of the budget is far from perfect. There are many critical needs that are going unmet. But the governor and the Legislature deserve great credit for ending the era of magical thinking in state budgeting by crafting a plan that matches recurring revenues to ongoing expenses. But it’s only a start. The next step is to raise enough revenue to sustain the important health, education and public safety services that Louisianans expect and deserve. LBP will continue to monitor state budget developments throughout the second extraordinary session.”
